Are Superheroes your thing?

Then you might want to get freaking Bent!

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I’m currently working on my first novel in the B.E.N.T universe created by Christopher Woods. The working title of which is “On the Wings of a Weeping Angel”

The universe isn’t much different than today. There were a few historical changes, like a Comet impacting the Earth that caused 15% of the population to become Bent, and gain mostly useless or harmless superpower mutations. Then 1% of the 15% affected with Bends actually gained classic superpowers that they call Talents.

Book 1 of the Universe, Annoyed with Lloyd, was released last December, kicking off the series.

1954, the year of the asteroid, the year of change…

It altered the world forever.

People began to develop unexplained abilities. Biological Enhanced Nascent Talents seemed to appear at random. There was no particular genetic reason for fifteen percent of the human population to be affected. Talents developed skills that set them apart from the great majority of those affected.

The others… they were just BENT.

In ’58 Alexander Lloyd became America’s most wanted criminal and is still at large, but it’s much more difficult to hide in an ever-advancing technological world. There is no official place for him to retire, and it’s becoming harder and harder to do what he does.

So what does America’s most wanted 93 year old shapeshifter do? Does he spend his golden years in hiding or disappear to an island in the Caribbean? Or does he stay just ahead of the people who are always searching for him and maybe do a few good deeds along the way? Perhaps he’ll see if he can break the record. How many people can become Annoyed with Lloyd?

Now, back in the day, we played lots of the tabletop RPG’s; Dungeons & Dragons, Mechwarrior, Dark Conspiracy, and of course both the Marvel and DC superheroes systems where we created all of these wild and different characters that sowed chaos across the world.

I’ve even pulled a few of those old characters from the depths of memory to give them life within the B.E.N.T. universe.

My story, “On the Wings of a Weeping Angel” focuses on Robert "Robbie" Rogneby, as he seeks out those responsible for his daughter’s death.
